In just a week’s time, Cody Rhodes will celebrate two months as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, and his reign has been nothing short of impressive. Although Rhodes has yet to find a storyline as captivating as his WrestleMania victory, he has faced and defeated two formidable challengers: AJ Styles at Backlash and Logan Paul at King and Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia.
As Rhodes looks to the future, he can rest assured knowing he has the support of wrestling veteran Eric Bischoff. On his podcast “83 Weeks,” Bischoff reviewed the King and Queen of the Ring event and shared his thoughts on Rhodes’ reign. While he dismissed the idea that Rhodes is solely carrying WWE, given the abundance of talented performers, Bischoff is confident that Rhodes is the perfect champion for the company right now.
“I think, for what WWE needs at this moment, Cody Rhodes is the best champion they could possibly have,” Bischoff said. “From a marketing perspective, audience engagement, and advertiser appeal, he fits the bill perfectly. I know some people might cringe when I talk business, but from a producer’s standpoint, not a fan’s, there couldn’t be a better World Champion right now. His in-ring performance is outstanding, and he represents the company in such a positive light off-screen. I just don’t think you could find a better World Champion at this time.”
Rhodes’ victories over Styles and Paul have solidified his status as a fighting champion, and his ability to connect with fans both in and out of the ring makes him an invaluable asset to WWE. With Bischoff’s endorsement, it’s clear that Cody Rhodes is not just a placeholder but the champion WWE needs to lead the charge into the future.
