The era of Roman Reigns’ dominance came to its crashing halt at WrestleMania 40 when he lost his Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes. The Tribal Chief has not been seen since that night in Philidelphia.
However, he is expected to make his grand comeback before WWE SummerSlam 2024, set to take place on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. With that being the speculation, here are five possible opponents that Reigns can battle at SummerSlam:
5. Randy Orton
A first-time-ever bout between The Tribal Chief version of Roman Reigns and Randy Orton could be a stellar addition to WWE SummerSlam. Ironically, the duo battled each other at the 2014 edition of SummerSlam when Reigns was coming up the ranks. Therefore, to battle at the same stage ten years later with a much different timeline could prove to be a spectacular showdown between Reigns and Orton.
4. Uncle Howdy
Uncle Howdy and his new faction, The Wyatt Sicks, made a huge impact upon their debut on the latest edition of Monday Night RAW. With the decimation that they caused at the show, it is bound that they are looking to rise to the top of the heap. This could potentially lead them to target one of the biggest WWE superstars of this generation, Roman Reigns, possibly setting up a huge showdown between Howdy and Reigns at WWE SummerSlam this year.
3. Solo Sikoa
Ever since Roman Reigns went on hiatus, his Enforcer, Solo Sikoa has taken charge of The Bloodline, recruiting thugs like Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa to the group, something Paul Heyman revealed that he and Reigns were always against. The next chapter of The Bloodline Civil War could see Reigns vs Sikoa headline SummerSlam to establish the true leader of the dominant faction and the real “Head of the Table.”
2. Cody Rhodes
The one man Roman Reigns surely would target upon his resurgence to WWE is Cody Rhodes, who ended his nearly four-year-long reign as the World Champion at WrestleMania 40. Moreover, with both men having one victory over each other, the rubber match at WWE SummerSlam could culminate their long-standing feud and prove who the better man is among the two top-tier stars.
1. Seth Rollins
Roman Reigns’ historic rival and his former brother-in-arms, Seth Rollins, played a pivotal part in bringing the end of his remarkable title reign at WrestleMania. This could be the reason for Reigns to pick up things with Rollins and set the stage for a huge showdown between The Tribal Chief and The Visionary, writing the next chapter in their storied rivalry.
