The lightweight pair met at the fight week press conference in Las Vegas, with Davis’ WBA world title on the line in their ring showdown this Saturday night.
It was a heated affair as the pair began by arguing for several minutes in an exchange over previous sparring and a predicted outcome of the fight.
Davis and Martin were then brought to the front of the stage for a staredown, with security stood on standby behind the fighters.
As the pair got closer and whispered verbal barbs at each other, ‘Tank’ lifted his arm as if he was about to throw a right hand.
This drew a reflex reaction from Martin who himself was ready to go, and threw a feinted left hook of his own.
Davis is 29 fights undefeated in his professional career, and will go into the contest as overwhelming favourite after stopping Ryan Garcia in his last outing in April 2023.
And when going back and forth with his rival, the 29-year-old insisted Martin is intimidated by his punch power.
He said: “I’m gonna break you [Martin] up. I’m gonna split all that up under your eyes. Every time I tell people something is gonna happen, what happens?
“It hasn’t even hit him yet. He’ll see Saturday. It’s gonna hit him. Especially when I touch him. What is he bringing to the table that I haven’t seen?
“He’s shaking up there. He was talking tough yesterday when it was just him. It’s gonna show. He’s a frontrunner.
“He’s just worried about not getting knocked out. He’s not worrying about winning. He’s trying not to get knocked out.
“All that movement he has is just fake footwork, it’s regular. Mediocre.”
Martin had his own response, insisting the fight could descend into a power-hitting punch fest.
