The beautiful town of Skaneateles in upstate New York became the site of choice for large “cottages” after the Civil War.

Transformed one of the town’s stately homes – a 14,000-square-foot riverside mansion built in the early 1900s.

The large house has been redesigned and reconfigured into a picturesque residence following the neighbors’ late 19th century Victorian architecture, while incorporating modern craftsmanship and techniques. Timeless quality materials.

John I. Meyer Jr., AIA, LEED AP, Principal Architect and Co-Founder of Meyer & Meyer, Inc., in Boston, said: “Hope’s bronze windows and doors were a perfect fit for the project. this case. “They offer the longevity, beauty and durability and custom look one would expect from a stately, sophisticated home like this one.”

Hope’s Empire Bronze windows and doors are made from solid copper undergoing meticulous manufacturing processes for which all of Hope’s products are renowned. The project involved the installation of 26 permanent windows – including five planned arched windows – plus six openable windows and 11 pairs of swing doors.

Five fixed arched windows are located near the first floor entrance and offer sweeping views of the lake. They are curved with a modest inside radius of 201-3/8″ and glazed with curved glass on the plane to fit 22″ x 61″ frames.

The four-story lake house was featured in  Architectural Digest  magazine.

The magazine describes: “The façade in the back… has an 1890s magnificence, from the beautiful arched windows to the lawn below and the lake outside.”

Once the project is complete, the house is ready for tours to raise funds for the Skaneatele Festival. The tour sold out in just four days.
