At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes finished his story and won the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, the moment was made all the more special because he got to share it with his mother, Michelle Rubio. It was an emotional exchange between the mother-son duo and one that had the entire WWE Universe tearing up.
Well, recently, Cody Rhodes revealed that his mother will be joining him once again, this time in Scotland. The American Nightmare is scheduled to take on AJ Styles in an “I Quit” match at Clash at the Castle. But bringing his mother along for the ride may prove to be a very bad idea for The American Nightmare.
Now, there are many reasons why this could be a fatal error on Rhodes’ part. Here are a few of those:
AJ Styles or The O.C. could abduct her before Clash at the Castle
Heading into Clash at the Castle, it’s important to remember that AJ Styles and Cody Rhodes will be going head-to-head in an “I Quit” match. This means that anything goes, and given The Phenomenal One’s new attitude, he may just take some drastic measures to ensure his victory. This could include abducting Mama Rhodes by himself or having The O.C. do it for him.
It certainly is one way to get inside The American Nightmare’s head. Not knowing where his mother is could lead to Rhodes taking his eye off the ball. This would present the perfect opportunity for Styles to capitalize and force the champion into a situation where he would have to quit.
Styles could attack Mama Rhodes and force The American Nightmare to quit
While an abduction cannot be ruled out, it’s more likely that Mama Rhodes will be ringside, just like she was at WrestleMania 40. However, this does not mean that she is safe from any harm. Having his mother at ringside could prove to be more of a liability to Cody Rhodes than anything else.
AJ Styles could choose to hold Mama Rhodes hostage or even attack her. While such an act would undoubtedly infuriate Cody, it would also leave him with quite a dilemma. Unable to watch his mother in such a situation, he may just choose to surrender.
Cody Rhodes can only concentrate on one thing, the title or his mother
Since becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes has promised to take the title to new heights. However, come this Saturday, he can only focus on one thing. While Rhodes will appreciate his mother’s support, it’s hard to imagine AJ Styles will pass on the opportunity to use her in some nefarious scheme. It may even reach a point where The American Nightmare will have to choose between his mother and his championship reign.
However, at the end of the day, this is all just mere speculation. There is no telling if Styles will actually target Mama Rhodes during the match. Either way, Cody would do well not to rule out anything.
