Milagro, a small dog, was left for dead in a ditch. Residents in the area had noticed her lying there for days, unable to move. She was too weak and scared to even try to get up. They knew that if the rain came, the canal water would rise and she would be washed away.
When I arrived at the scene, I could see the desperation in her eyes. Milagro was malnourished, sick, and covered in thousands of ticks. She was too weak to even lift her head. I knew I had to act fast, or she would not make it.

It was clear that Milagro had endured a great deal of suffering, but her will to live was unbroken. She had shown incredible resilience and courage, and it was an inspiration to all who met her. Milagro’s story has a happy ending. She was eventually adopted by a loving family who continue to care for her and give her the love and attention she deserves.
