Imagine spending six long years in a corner, surrounded by animal waste, never being loved or played with, and having no chance to run around and enjoy life. That’s the sad reality that Ducky, a neglected dog, had to endure until someone finally saved her.
Ducky’s life took a positive turn when Elli, the founder of Sky Sanctuary Rescue, rescued her from the corner she had been trapped in for six years.
When Elli found Ducky, she was cowering in the corner, her small eyes looking up at her, begging for help.
Elli immediately took Ducky to get cleaned up, and after shaving off the thick fur mats that had grown on her body, Ducky “came to life.” She was overjoyed to be in Elli’s house, which housed four other enormous female dogs, and quickly connected with them.
Despite her initial fear and apprehension, Ducky’s personality evolved significantly over time, and she discovered her voice after three weeks. She started vocalizing what she wanted and became really silly, playing happily with the other animals. Elli couldn’t be happier seeing Ducky making such great strides.
Ducky is currently undergoing training and will be placed for adoption once she completes it. Elli believes that the ideal family for Ducky is someone who is dedicated to her needs, patient, and willing to provide her with the attention she needs to overcome the trauma of neglect.
“It’s amazing what a little time, patience, and a lot of love can do!” wrote one of Sky Sanctuary Rescue’s Facebook followers.
Ducky has already come a long way, but she deserves the best that life has to offer, and it seems like she’s well on her way to having the life that every dog dreams of.
