Cathleen the dog’s story is one that tugs at the heartstrings. Her family had to relocate, and they couldn’t take her with them. So, they gave her up for adoption to a new owner in Prague, Oklahoma, some 20 miles away. Cathleen, who had lived with her family since she was a puppy, missed them terribly, and decided to take matters into her own paws.
Last week, Cathleen stepped out of her new yard and onto the road. She was on her way home. Animal control eventually found her roaming around her old neighborhood. It was evident that she was yearning for her former family, but they didn’t share her feelings.
Cathleen’s journey home is nothing short of miraculous. She managed to travel 20 miles twice, without any harm coming to her. It’s amazing how much loyalty and determination one dog can possess.
After her second trip, the Seminole Humane Society decided that it would be safer for Cathleen to be placed in a more secure home, a little further away. She was granted a clean bill of health following a vet exam and was quickly adopted.
Cathleen’s sweet nature won over the hearts of the shelter staff, and applications to adopt her began to pour in. It’s not hard to see why. She’s calm, excellent with other dogs, and loves humans. Cathleen is the perfect addition to any family.
After a local news station aired a feature on her, applications for Cathleen’s adoption came from all over the nation. It was overwhelming, but the shelter staff knew that they had to find the perfect family for her.
Luckily, Cathleen’s new family was just around the corner. She will be moving to Texas, where she will have four dog siblings to play with, as well as some youngsters to run about and snuggle with. Above all, Cathleen will have a safe, fenced-in yard with acres of area to explore. It’s the perfect place for her to call home.
Cathleen’s story is a reminder that dogs are loyal companions that will go to great lengths to be with their families. It’s also a reminder that there are still many loving families out there, ready to adopt dogs in need.
We hope that Cathleen will enjoy her new home and that her story will inspire others to adopt pets from shelters. After all, they’re just waiting for someone to give them a chance at a better life.
