K-pop stars Stray Kids prepare for comeback with upbeat London show

LONDON, July 14 (Reuters) – Stray Kids, the dynamic K-pop sensation, head

lined the British Summer Time (BST) Hyde Park Festival on Sunday, marking a significant moment in their career. The eight-member group, known for their genre-blending sound and hits like “God’s Menu” and “S-Class,” delivered a powerful performance in front of thousands of fans.

Debuting in 2018 through a JYP Entertainment reality show, Stray Kids have quickly risen to global fame. The group—comprising Changbin, Felix, Hyunjin, Lee Know, Han, Seungmin, Bang Chan, and I.N—returned to London after nearly five years for their UK festival debut.

“It’s a really big festival and it’s a really big space. It’ll be really interesting to see how much the energy we bring to it will change that,” said Han before the show. Their high-energy set, lasting over an hour and a half, captivated the audience.

Stray Kids were recently named by Time magazine as one of the Next Generation Leaders and ranked third on the IFPI’s top ten list of global recording artists last year. Their album “5-Star” was the second best-selling album globally in 2023.

In May, all eight members graced the MET Gala red carpet in custom Tommy Hilfiger suits. Despite their streaming success, the group remains focused on delivering meaningful music to their fans, known as STAYs.

“Lots of STAYs and a lot of people are giving us a lot of attention, so I don’t think we should sit still and do nothing about it,” said Seungmin. Their upcoming EP “ATE,” set for release on July 19, showcases new concepts and styles, emphasizing the group’s genuine approach to music.

“We’re bringing out all we can at this time and that makes us confident,” added Changbin.
