Arsenal’s title challenge took a hit as they dropped two precious points in a dramatic draw against bottom-of-table Southampton. Arsenal went into the match knowing that a win would put them at the top of the Premier League table by seven points ahead of their trip to Manchester City. However, after a disastrous start that left them 2-0 down within 13 minutes, Arsenal had to come back to regain a point.

The Gunners players collapsed to the floor when the final whistle blew, after missing the opportunity to increase the gap with the top of the table. Arsenal’s inability to handle the pressure of the title race has been on display over the past few games, and this one was the most confusing.

From Aaron Ramsdale’s mistake that gave Southampton the lead after just 28 seconds, to the misplaced passes of Martin Odegaard, Fabio Vieira and Rob Holding who were not interested in duty, Arsenal’s players made many mistakes that caused they pay dearly. Ramsdale’s failed pass from behind set the tone for the night, and Southampton capitalized on their mistake, taking a 2-0 lead after just 13 minutes.

Although Arsenal fought back they could not find a victory and the draw left them vulnerable to Manchester City, who have two games in hand and could take the lead if they win. Arsenal have now dropped points in three consecutive games, and it looks like their title challenge is becoming clear before our eyes. They almost handed the title to Manchester City, who have been in excellent form in recent weeks.

Arsenal’s players need to step up and show that they have what it takes to win the Premier League. They can’t afford any more slippage, as the title race is getting tougher with each passing week. They have to find a way to deal with the pressure and show that they have the mental toughness to win the tournament.
