Manchester City welcomed Phil Foden back to training after the 22-year-old midfielder underwent abdominal surgery last month. The versatile player had to miss out on four weeks of action, but showed signs of sufficient fitness to participate in the Champions League return leg against Bayern.
Foden returned to Man City training with a beaming face, showing agility and comfort. Despite the health issues, the Englishman has scored 13 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions for Man City, including nine in the Premier League.
Foden’s return to the squad is a good news for manager Pep Guardiola and the club. The Spanish tactician will have more options to choose from his squad and can take a bit of a breather in a context still having to fight on three fronts and at least 14 matches from now until the end of the season.
Man City are confident Foden will play an important role in the Champions League return leg against Bayern and help the home side seal a win. The team has already secured a 3-0 advantage in the first leg and the chances of Foden being used in Munich are high.
