Norway’s national team captain Martin Ødegaard was named the best player of the year in London on Monday.
Also on the red carpet was the “Shall we dance” profile Helene Spilling, who is also known from “Masters mester” on NRK:
Ødegaard was wearing a dark suit and burgundy red tie, while Spilling was wearing a black dress.
VG was in contact with Spilling on Tuesday afternoon. Then she said she was getting off a plane and didn’t have time to comment at the time.
Spilling has 17 gold medals, four silver medals and two bronze medals from the NM in ballroom dancing. After she gave up as a professional dancer, she joined the “Skal vi danse” circus from 2020.
She came in second place with radio host Nate Kahungu in 2020, before winning with Simon Nitsche in 2021. In “Skal vi danse: All Stars” there was third place together with Aleksander Hetland in 2022.
At the weekend, Martin Ødegaard scored his tenth goal in the Premier League this season. He also has six assists.
– I want to share this award with the whole team. It is great to see the club being recognized with all the awards. I think it shows how far we have come as a club and that what we are doing this year is very special, says the Norwegian to the London newspaper Evening Standard.
The jury that has awarded the prizes consists of 25 members, all of whom are either football managers, football journalists or former football players. Among them the former Premier League profiles Carlton Cole, Tony Cottee and Bobby Zamora.
The other four nominees for the player of the year award were teammate Bukayo Saka, Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and Tottenham’s Harry Kane.
