At-the-moment man As the face of Burberry’s most recent collection, which continues to celebrate community, creativity, and the voices of the future, Marcus Rashford makes his debut in a fashion advertisement.
Marcus Rashford has now made his debut in a fashion campaign, proving that he hasn’t had enough to do with almost single-handedly defeating RB Leipzig and the UK Government’s resolve when it comes to not feeding hungry children. The Manchester United striker, who recently joined Burberry as their Winter Ambassador, is now featured in the British fashion house’s newest advertising campaign as part of its effort to support the voices of tomorrow.
Youth and exceptional creativity are the campaign’s unifying characteristics. In addition to finding resonance in the communities supported by the youth initiatives Burberry is supporting in partnership with Marcus Rashford MBE, the range of figures featured in the campaign, which brings together figures from fashion, dance, and sport, also finds resonance in society as a whole. These initiatives allow people to realize their full potential, to explore their dreams, and to always go beyond.
“Burberry is THE British brand with strong ties to the North of England, which is really important to me,” explained Rashford. “It is very rare that I partner in a formal capacity, but what Burberry was offering was different. Burberry shared my vision in bettering local communities through investment into youth centres, which play a pivotal role in the childhood of many, especially in under-privileged areas. We are all products of our community and youth centres offer children in those local communities stability and consistency to succeed at anything they put their minds to. Youth centres have suffered financially due to the global pandemic and closing them is losing the heart of the community. Burberry have led with action rather than words and the impact of this move will be felt for generations to come. I’m thrilled with the outcome and proud to call Burberry my partner. Thank you to Riccardo and the full team for making this process so rewarding and enjoyable.”
The campaign includes classic house codes like trench coats, barn jackets with diamond quilting, and hooded puffer jackets made of recycled nylon. The Pocket Bag, a canvas and topstitched leather tote with an archive-inspired design, is one accessory.
A campaign film was also produced to go along with the images. It takes the viewer from the ordinary to the extraordinary and lets them explore a new fantasy as four young dancers traverse a choreographed landscape that travels from city to sea in a modernized version of the British countryside. But if you were hoping to see Rashford get involved, get ready to be let down.
