Frank Warren Predicts Anthony Joshua Vs. Daniel Dubois Showdown Will Shatter Tyson Fury’s Record

The 90,000-seat capacity of the iconic Wembley Stadium had to be increased to a record-breaking 94,000 for Tyson Fury‘s all-British showdown with Dillian Whyte last year.

But the Queensberry Promotions chief expects that Joshua and Dubois’ IBF heavyweight title fight on September 21 will surpass that figure.

“Oh, it’s massive,” he told talkSPORT on Tuesday. “I mean, we will be applying to increase the capacity like we did last time when Tyson Fury fought against Dillian Whyte.

“And I think we’ve got it, I think we will probably break that record. So it’s really looking good.”

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, recently suggested that Joshua vs Dubois could sell 100,000 tickets at the home of English football.

0,000 were in attendance for AJ’s unification clash with Wladimir Klitschko in 2017 while 80,000 turned up for his battle with Alexander Povetkin a year later.

Although Dubois doesn’t have the same name value as a Klitschko, domestic dust-ups always do well on gate receipts so it is not out of the question for such a feat to be achieved.

Especially, when it comes to a fight where either man can knock the other out.

“A lot of people are making AJ a favourite, and they’re saying AJ is a big puncher and so forth and I hope he comes out and comes to fight because if he lets those big punches go I know that will leave him exposed,” Warren added.

“If Daniel clips him, it will knock him out. I think Daniel is the bigger puncher.

“Daniel, myself and Don [Charles] (Dubois’ trainer) have spoken about this a fair bit and we think it’s a battle of the jabs and I think whoever is throwing those jabs and feeling comfortable will set up the big shots and let them go.

“But I genuinely think that Daniel can win this, he’s a young man, he’s fought better opposition in his last three fights than AJ has.

“And by the way, AJ has looked good in his last few fights but not against as good opposition as what Daniel has been in with.

“Daniel’s dealt with them and he’s stopped them and come through a couple of moments in the fights where he was getting caught.

“Certainly in the early stage of the Hrgovic fight but he did a job on him.”

Dubois was branded a ‘quitter’ by several members of the boxing fraternity after seeing out ten counts against Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk.

But a pair of gutsy wins against Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic in his last two outings have gone a long way in helping shift his public perception.

The newly-crowned world champion now has the opportunity to silence the doubters once and for all by beating Joshua this summer and establishing himself as a top-two heavyweight in Britain.
