Champion Usyk: From Boxing Glory to Humanitarian Hero, Initiates $50 Million Drive to Deliver Ambulances for War-Affected Country

The fight Usyk vs Fury marked a historic night for the heavyweight division of boxing as Usyk was crowned the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era and the first since Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in 1999. It was a tense match between two heavyweight fighters, with Fury seemingly dominating the early rounds before Usyk mounted a late comeback, knocking down the British fighter in the ninth round.

After the match, both fighters showed mutual respect, with Fury draping his arm over Usyk’s shoulder in the ring. Usyk raised the Ukrainian flag after the fight and thanked his team for their support in his success.

“Thank you so much to my team. This is a huge opportunity for my family, for me, for my country. This is a great moment, a great day. Yes, of course. I am ready for the rematch.”

In an exclusive interview with Mail Sport, Usyk shared that he wanted to give back to those suffering from the war in his homeland. His charity, the Usyk Foundation, has launched a major fundraising campaign to raise $50 million and buy 50 ambulances to save lives in Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.

Usyk said he had received a lot of support from around the world leading up to the undisputed fight. “Those words inspire and motivate me,” he said.

The focus of Usyk’s charity efforts has been to provide immediate and tangible aid to the people affected by the war. The fundraising campaign aims to address the urgent need for medical transportation in war-torn areas. By procuring 50 ambulances, Usyk hopes to save countless lives and bring some relief to those suffering the consequences of the conflict.

Usyk’s efforts have drawn praise and support from various quarters. Many fans and celebrities have contributed to the campaign, highlighting the global solidarity behind Ukraine’s plight. This initiative not only underscores Usyk’s commitment to his country but also showcases the power of sports figures to influence positive change beyond their professional realms.

Fury and Usyk are expected to rematch this coming October. Fury stated he is eagerly looking forward to the rematch and hopes to have the opportunity to prove himself as the true champion.

“We will go back to our families and I will see him again in October. We will go back, rest,” Fury said.
