Canelo Finally Willing To Face David Benavidez Under One Condition: “I’ll Fight Him Tomorrow” if one promoter who I work with, if they offer $150m-$200m, I fight tomorrow

Saul ‘Canelo‘ Alvarez is the current undisputed champion at super-middleweight but many fans feel that David Benavidez might be the best fighter at the weight.

Benavidez has long been chasing the fight to prove it, but Canelo has been dismissive, claiming the ‘Mexican Monster’ isn’t on his radar. He has also previously said Benavidez should be fighting at a higher weight as he rehydrates to an extreme level.

“Maybe it’s one of the biggest fights, who knows. But you know, he brings nothing to he table for me, he just brings 25lbs on the night of the fight.

But I feel if some promoter, not him because he’s not in a position to offer anything me any money, I’m the one, but if one promoter who I work with, if they offer $150m-$200m, I fight tomorrow. That’s the only reason I fight with him, the only thing he brings to the table is 25 more lbs.

No pressure to make the fight, I don’t need to fight anybody, I don’t need to prove anything to anybody because I remember when this happened with Golovkin. I don’t need to prove anything to anybody.

Benavidez grew tired of waiting for his shot at Canelo and moved up to make his light-heavyweight debut in his last outing. The 27-year-old scored a unanimous decision against former champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk in Las Vegas on June 15.

He now has a decision to make – either move back down and try to force a mandatory fight using his WBC ranking, or stay at 175lbs to be first in line to face the winner of Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev.
