The ‘Tribal Chief’ was defeated that night in Philadelphia, dropping his undisputed universal championship to the ‘American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes.
Reigns is one of the biggest names in wrestling
Reigns had held the belt for a staggering 1,317 days, marking the end of one of the longest title runs in WWE history.
Since April’s showpiece event, Reigns has been absent from WWE programming, with Rhodes leading the company into a new era under the watchful eye of its Chief Content Officer, Triple H.
In addition, Roman’s cousin, Solo Sikoa, has stepped up to lead The Bloodline on Friday Night SmackDown, taking the faction down an even far darker route and performing something of a coup to assert himself as the group’s new leader.
Now, though, new footage has surfaced online of Reigns in the gym, training alongside former Mr. Olympia competitor, Kai Greene.
Greene is renowned for his scarcely believable physique, and with an audience of 7.4M followers on Instagram alone, the link up between the pair sparked instant online debate.
The clip soon did the rounds on social media and sent fans wild about the ‘Head of the Table’s’ potential WWE return. One user on X said: ‘We are about to witness the greatest return of the past decade’.
Another commented: ‘The man is coming back beast mode!!! Everybody better watch out. With a third adding: ‘The return will be worth the wait and goats come back stronger THAN EVER. Watch out Solo.’
After the initial excitement died down, attention immediately turned to how WWE might reintegrate Reigns into its shows. The general consensus was that a babyface turn would work best – with Reigns already being a crowd favourite, it makes sense for WWE to steer into the hype.
Fans think Reigns could be gearing up for a WWE return
However, doing so may present some challenges. If the ambition is to have Reigns feud with Rhodes again upon his return, then it’s likely he would have to remain a heel for the storyline to fully work.
That said, it seems far more likely that Reigns will go after Sikoa, and try to reclaim his rightful spot as the leader of The Bloodline, in which case a babyface turn makes perfect sense.
