After years of Roman Reigns dominating the WWE landscape, the company has finally crowned Cody Rhodes as the new WWE Champion. This marks the first time since Big E in 2022 that a true babyface has held the top title. However, merely winning the belt is only the beginning; the true measure of a champion is in the reign itself.
In the eyes of WWE legend The Undertaker, Rhodes is off to an impressive start. Known as the “American Nightmare,” Rhodes brings a fresh dynamic to WWE, positioning himself as an anti-Reigns figure who can captivate fans and inspire a new generation of “Little Nightmares” worldwide.
“He’s doing a phenomenal job, and again, I think he’s gonna have a tremendous run as a babyface. But, I think his bigger run will be as a heel,” The Undertaker shared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet via Fightful. “There’s just something about Cody with me that I envision a heel. It’s down the road because right now, he’s killing it as a babyface, his promos are on point, and he’s fighting all the people he’s supposed to be. He’s almost an anti-Roman, things will be very interesting when Roman comes back.”
This isn’t the first time Rhodes has been seen as having heel potential. Fans and WWE Hall of Famers alike have long suggested that Rhodes could be more Anakin Skywalker than Luke Skywalker, especially since he secured the belt back in April. Despite the speculation, Rhodes has embraced his role as a babyface, and both fans and the WWE front office are on board.
As Rhodes continues to thrive as a babyface, the question remains: how long can he keep this momentum going? For now, the WWE universe is enjoying the ride, eager to see how this new chapter unfolds and whether The Undertaker’s prediction of a heel turn will come to pass.
