As we approached him, he started barking, a sign that he was still holding on to life. It was heartbreaking to see him dragging his paralyzed body, but we knew we had to act fast. We carefully lifted him onto the stretcher, and he let out a whimper. It was a sign of hope, and we knew we had to do everything in our power to save him.
As we were carrying him out of the riverbed, a car pulled up, and a woman got out. She introduced herself as Irena, a veterinarian who had been following the story on social media. She had come to help and brought with her a portable oxygen tank.
Together, we rushed him to the animal hospital. It was a long and emotional journey, but we knew we had to give him a chance. Irena did everything she could, and miraculously, the dog pulled through. He was alive, but still paralyzed.
We named him Lucky, and he became a part of our family. We knew he would never walk again, but we were determined to give him the best life possible. With the help of a specially designed wheelchair, Lucky was able to explore the world around him. He had a new lease on life, and we were grateful to have been a part of his journey.
