When staff with Love Leo Rescue found Matt on the streets, he was covered in such long, matted-fur that it was hard to see his face.
They didn’t know it at the time, but underneath all that fur was a sweet pup just waiting to be pampered!
Sasha with Love Leo Rescue helped capture Matt and get him off the streets. They were determined to give him a second chance at life and show him what it’s like to be loved.
In an interview with The Dodo, Sasha said they believed Matt had been on the streets for at least a year, given how long and matted his hair was.
She said, “He was very sweet, maybe sensed that we were there to help him.” It wasn’t long before Matt was safely in their car and ready for his big haircut.
After two hours, he looked like an entirely new dog. Without all the fur, you could really see his adorable face and tiny body. You’d never guess he’d been living on the streets just hours before!
It wasn’t long before Matt found the perfect home to call his own with a woman named Ami. Amy had another dog, Penny, and Matt really hit things off with his new sibling. While he was unsure of living in a house with a family at first, Penny helped him adjust to his new life.
“I believe that Penny was a big influence on Matt because Matt didn’t know how to be a real dog,” Ami explained to The Dodo.
Now, Matt loves life with his new family! He gets to go camping, play with fun toys, and hang out with Penny. But one of his favorite things to do is lounge around and float in the pool all day. He loves the water and he loves being pampered by the pool.
After all the time he spent on the streets, Matt deserves all the poolside service he can get!
