A snake farmer in China has just discovered an extremely rare two-headed mutant cobra on his farm. In particular, right from the time the eggs hatched a few hours ago, the two heads of the snake were able to move independently. They even tried to attack each other, according to Sky News.
The snake was born on a farm in Yulin city, Guangxi province, southern China. The two heads of the snake can move independently of each other because they have two separate brains.
However, it has been 10 days since then and it still hasn’t eaten anything. The snake farmer, a man surnamed Hoang, said that although the animal was still alive, he decided to move it to Nanning Zoo. The experts here will take care and the snake will probably live longer.
The length of each snake’s head is about two-thirds of the body. Because they have 2 heads with 2 independent brains, they will sometimes move in 2 different directions.
The snake is still alive even though it hasn’t eaten for 10 days, during which time it sheds its skin once, said Li Keqin, a zookeeper.
Previously, science had recorded some cases of two-headed snakes, but most of them died prematurely. They don’t live long, only a few months, according to the Daily Mail .
However, there was also an exception when a two-headed snake used to live up to 20 years. The adult cobra in China is usually 1.2 to 1.5 m in length.
